CHASTE TREE BERRY (Agnus castus) Well known for its balancing effects to the female reproductive system. Research indicates its ability to increase production of the leutenizing hormone and prolactin. It is used to stimulate milk flow and to regulate the menstrual cycle when there is excessive bleeding , too frequent, or prolonged menstruation. It is found to benefit both PMS and menopausal symptoms. Other indications include: fibroids, inflammation of the womb lining, low energy, cramping, fibroid cysts, uterine healing after childbirth, and rebalancing after discontinued use of the contraceptive pill. Folk use suggests that it is an anaphrodisiac for men. Vitex (Chaste Berry) works mainly through the pituitary gland. It is useful to promote fertility in women.
